In April 2011, Coach’s BBQ will open its new location at 1825 Silverada Blvd., off of Oddie in the Sak N’ Save shopping center in north Reno. The new location will have a drive thru and feature happy hour specials.
Don “Coach” Cortez grew up in the Oakland Bay Area. He played all sports, and especially enjoyed football. He earned his masters degree from San Francisco State University in ‘73. Don went on to coach college football at San Francisco State, University of Oregon, West Texas State, and the University of Texas El Paso. Don was also the athletic director/head football coach for Panhandle State University Oklahoma.

When the Coach moved his family to Reno, Corrie became the operations manager for the family
business, Tel-Com Answering Service. At UNR, Corrie studied early childhood development. Corrie still enjoys sports, and adds family, kids and cooking to her list of special interests.
